Hadassah does have a certain momentum to it, but how much of that can be attributed to Tenney and how much to his original source material is hard to say. In the spirit of his book, I will give you my own advise: if you want to know the story of Mordechai, Haman, Esther and the rest, go to the original.   The modern-day Hadassah, introduced to readers in the previous novel, is the wife of Israel's Prime Minister, with all its reflected power but also its isolation. The inner pain she feels as her beloved land and people are terrorized by political strife and bombings is made even more personal as /5(3).

Hadassah is a great book for those who know about the Esther story. She was raised by her cousin and she practiced her jewfish religion. She was then gathered with other young women to be chosen by the king of that time. The king chose Esther. But then an evil servant of the king tricks the king to make a law to banish and kill the Jewish people/5.

POWERFUL FICTION FEATURING ONE OF THE BIBLE'S MOST BELOVED CHARACTERS. Against a vividly painted historical backdrop, bestselling author Tommy Tenney breathes new life into the age-old story of Hadassah, the simple peasant girl who must vie with more than a hundred other young women to become the next queen of Persia/5().
